About the books:

Truth Like Water: In a small estuary village on the Welsh coast, Catrin is mourning the anniversary of her mother's drowning when a teenage girl disappears on the same mudflats. Her search dredges up dark revelations from the village’s past and present, uncovering secrets about Catrin's own family. Secrets that her parents had never wanted her to discover.

Witsh: "Sixteenth century Wales, amidst relentless rain and failing crops, a woman is accused of Witchcraft." Talk of witchcraft, convictions and hangings begin to cross the border from England, reaching and influencing gentry families and villagers alike.

About the authors:

Carys Shannon is originally from north Gower, Swansea, and now divides her time between Wales and the Spanish Pyrenees. She has had short stories published by Honno Press, Parthian Books and Mslexia Magazine, as well as broadcast on BBC Radio 4. When not writing, Carys is happiest enjoying slow time in big nature.

Mari Ellis Dunning’s debut poetry collection, Salacia, was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year 2019. Her second collection, Pearl and Bone, was chosen as Wales Arts Review’s Number 1 Poetry Choice of 2022. Mari teaches at Aberystwyth University, where she delivers courses on feminist writing. Mari is represented by Laura Williams at Greene and Heaton — Witsh is her first novel.
